Management of networked sensing devices
Friday, April 3, 2009Levent Gurgen (Honiden Lab, NII, Tokyo)
Considerable research has been done on different aspects of sensor networks. However management issues for these devices are still little explored. Nonetheless, with the increasing number of heterogeneous distributed sensors in various application domains, their management gains more and more importance, in particular for domains where requirements in terms of quality of service, reliability, security and integrity are high, e.g., industrial, medical and domotics. The first part of this talk gives an overview of sensor systems and how data is managed in these systems. The second part introduces a recently emerged management domain, "device management". And finally, the talk discusses the relevancy of device management in sensing systems and introduces the "sensing device management" notion.
