Content-Based networking for global scale mediation service

We envision a decentralized middleware leveraging content-based networking technology to mediate between information providers and information consumers at global scale, characterized by the scarcity of end-to-end bandwidth, the heterogenity of information consumer requirements and the information overload. Content-based netwoking technology provides efficient dissemination channels to information providers to reach information consumers in a loose coupled and decentralized manner, and has successfully contributed to the development of event-based applications supporting an exhaustive filtering semantic i.e. such that subscribers subscribe to all events matching a given predicate.
We claim that the traditional exhaustive semantic is inadequate for global scale deployments and we have developped an original and scalable framework which defines an enhanced service model capturing the quantitative and qualitative heterogeneity of information consumer requirements, and addressing the key design issues required to implement efficiently that service model. These design issues involve efficient caching, forwarding and dissemination strategies.
