Abstract : In this paper we introduce a method used to solve the conflicts that could occur between drivers agents in simulated road traffic. This work is a part of the INRETS ARCHISIM project. ARCHISIM goal is not only to simulate a realistic traffic road process, but also to make the behavior of agents credible for a human driver placed in a simulator. After having categorized the kinds of conflicts that can occur, and also the constraints which determine the choice of a resolution method, we propose a method which combines reactivity and anticipation. This method is based upon the works of driving psychology carried out at INRETS. We show an experimental validation of this method through a comparison with actual data. We discuss the advantages for large applications.
