Titre / Title: Intégration de la tolérance aux fautes dans le développement d'un système réparti
Abstract : A general method to design distributed fault-tolerant systems is presented. This method consists in dividing the functionalities of the system in several layers. Each functional layer is then responsible to tolerate the failures of the components which take part into its delivered service. This approach simplifies the design of highly reliable systems and allow to adopt specification languages and formalisms suited to the level of abstraction of the layer. The second part of this report exposes the application of this method to a parallel heterogeneous computer, named CAPITAN. One of the functional layer of CAPITAN uses process replication to tolerate faults of applicative tasks. Two communication protocols which manage these redundancies are precisely described.
This work could have be done thanks to a collaboration between the laboratory of MASI (University P. & M. Curie), the engineer school ESIEE and the company MATRA CAP SYSEMS which has provided the parallel computer CAPITAN.
