Titre / Title: Strong Morita Equivalence and the Rees Theorem
Abstract : One of the most valuable tools available to algebraists is the method of homological algebra. To a given algebraic structure one associates a category. From this category one deduces information about the former. The idea behind Morita theory is to relate an algebraic structure with a complex structure to one with a simpler structure via the associated categories and so learn more about the original. In our earlier work we associated a natural category to a certain class of semigroup, in this article we expand this class and investigate the structure of a semigroup via a subcategory of the category of those sets on which an action by the semigroup is defined. The notion of a Morita context allows us to define an equivalence relation on the class of semigroups of the form S = S2. We explore this equivalence relation and its consequences. In particular we give a new generalisation of the classical Rees theorem.
